Living Income in Cocoa – 2020 Barometer Consultation Paper
2020 Cocoa Barometer Consultation Papers

This Consultation Paper of the Cocoa Barometer Consortium, published in January 2020, argues that current living income reference prices for cocoa farmers are too low to ensure a sustainable livelihood. It presents new data and analysis to calculate necessary farm gate prices in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, calling for a shift from unrealistic productivity expectations to a rights-based approach, and urges companies and governments to adopt transparent policies and publish accurate data to support a living income for all farmers.
